PITTSBURGH … Diversified industrial manufacturer Eaton Corporation announced today that the United States Department of Energy (DOE) has certified Eaton as an energy service company (ESCO). The certification recognizes Eaton’s ability to meet the highest standards in managing energy-saving performance projects that help businesses and government organizations achieve energy efficiency objectives.
“As the need for energy efficiency and sustainability increases, so does the demand for the expertise of ESCO-certified companies,” said Paul Cody, vice president and general manager, Electrical Service & Systems Division, Eaton Corporation. “Eaton is honored to be included among such a prestigious list of energy companies, utilities and other organizations that represent sustainability, energy efficiency and power management.”
This designation acknowledges Eaton as an ESCO company, able to manage turnkey total energy solutions that include all aspects of key projects, such as needs assessments, installation of systems and equipment, savings verification, financing, and maintenance.
Projects led by ESCO companies are required to meet stipulations of DOE’s Federal Energy Management Program (FEMP) and other federal laws and regulations. The initiatives are designed to better manage energy consumption, improve facilities’ energy efficiency, and reduce maintenance costs for periods ranging from seven to 20 years.
Eaton has a history of participating in ESCO-related projects with numerous state, county and local governments.
A critical component of every energy efficiency project is educating customers about their energy use patterns demonstrating the connection between energy demand and profitability.
- ESCOs provide the following services for their customers: Development, design, and financial arrangements of energy efficiency projects, including those that promote renewable energy and zero net energy consumption;
- Installation and maintenance of the energy efficient equipment involved;
- Measurement, monitoring to verify the project's energy savings; and
- Warranting the amount of energy savings the project will achieve.
